All of the "other software consists of a variety of different software programs, which includes utility software programs, application software programs and server programs.

Actually, Linux is used a lot more commonly than a desktop system and server system, but it is used with extremely high licensing fees pertaining to Windows, all of this is rapidly changing.

Overall, there is a wide variety of different types of Linux and Windows server systems which are used upon a network, like on the internet or on the local area network within an office. For instance, all of the file servers are known to be used in order to serve all of the program and data files to the individual users and the web servers are used to serve all of the web pages to the individuals that are surfing the internet and running browsers.

Similar to the nature of Windows, Linux is used basically as a server system and there are several different types of Linux servers and there are millions of different Linux servers that are being used on the internet and within offices located all around the world. All of the Linux downloads are free and it will operate as a desktop system which can be done relatively easily or you may choose to operate Linux as your server system.
